Climate
Visitors and residents enjoy sunshine about 316 days a year with summer temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. The average daily temperature is 80.7 degrees with humidity in the mid 20's. Winter nighttime temperatures fall into the low 30's but average daytime temperatures are in the 50's. Average rainfall if 4.9 inches and while snowfall in the city is infrequent; the mountain areas receive enough snowfall in nearby Mt. Charleston to make the area a popular skiing location.

Recreational Activities
Activities such as fishing, boating, skiing, hiking, biking, camping and sightseeing are available all year long in North Las Vegas. Lake Mead is only minutes from North Las Vegas and is the largest man-made lake in the world. Hoover Dam, the largest dam in the Western Hemisphere created Lake Mead and its over 500 miles of shoreline. At Lake Mead you can boat, sail, jet ski, fish, water-ski, camp and windsurf. Mt. Charleston is a 30 minute drive North and offers snow-skiing from November to April at Lee Canyon. Residents can also enjoy hiking, camping, horseback riding and other activities in a pleasant climate.

Transportation
The North Las Vegas Airport is the second busiest airport in Nevada and is used for small and privately owned aircraft. McCarran Airport, which serves the Las Vegas Valley, is the fifth busiest airport in North America and tenth busiest in the world averaging 120,000 passengers per day.

Bus service is provided by Citizen Area Transit (CAT) mass transit system. The RTC began the Citizens Area Transit (CAT) bus system in December 1992. In 2004, the RTC added the first Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) line to its transit system and in October 2005 The DEUCE double deck bus service began running on the famous Las Vegas Strip. Ridership among the RTC's transit services has grown from 14.9 million riders in 1993 to more than 55 million riders. The buses offer 24 hour service in the downtown and Strip areas and 20 hour service to residential areas.

Several taxicab services are available around the valley.
