Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll has appointed Ariel Stern as partner in the Las Vegas office. Bank of North Las Vegas promoted Marilyn Ash to senior vice president & loan operations manager, Kathy Stubbs to vice president, controller and Brent Yap to assistant vice president, commercial loan officer. Branch-Hernandez & Associates named Quincy Branch vice president of employee benefits and Tara Jacquet senior account executive of employee benefits. Burke & Associates is pleased to announce that Jim Weatherman, Pat Schueppert, Thad Lawrence and Scott Bonebrake were recently named LEED accredited professionals. In other company news, Burke & Associates has recently completed the Nevada Partners Culinary Training Academy, located in North Las Vegas. CMA Business Credit Services named Kimberly Lamberty vice president of operations and business development. Colliers International hired Michael Koontz as an associate of the office division. Community Bank of Nevada is pleased to announce the hiring of Jerry Hayes as senior vice president, commercial loan officer and Michael Zufelt as SBA business development officer. The Korte Company announced the hiring of Scott Harvey as project superintendent, Cynthia Lewis as project assistant and Isaac Turley, Keith Allen, Mark Ketchum and Terrence Neto to its special services staff. Managed Pay announced the hiring of Lisa Buraszeski as safety and loss control administrator. Manpower Inc. of Southern Nevada hired JuDee Butler as business development manager in its West Sahara office. Mass Mutual Financial Group named Daniel Nehring agency supervisory officer, Jessica Kato as marketing director, and Jim Wenzl as a general agent. Rossi Ralenkotter of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority was recently appointed to the U.S. travel and tourism advisory board by the Commerce Department. Kathy Phillips of Nevada Commerce Bank and Corey Johnson of Silver State Bank were recently elected to the board of directors for the Nevada Bankers Association. Orgill/Singer recently announced the appointment of Eamon M. Springall CIC, CRM, CISR as Chief Operating Officer, and Christian Duval to the position of account executive - life & health, and Tracy Jankowski to the position of customer service assistant. ROEL Construction recently appointed Shay Williamson as marketing communications manager and Curt Favinger as project manager. Southwest Gas Corp. elected Robert L. Boughner to its board of directors. Claudia Collins of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension health and nutrition was appointed to the Clark County Senior Advisory Board. ON THE MOVE Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll LLP acquired the Atlanta-based intellectual property law firm Needle & Rosenberg. The addition of the Atlanta office marks Ballard Spahr’s 12th location and a move into the south. Boyd Martin Construction has been awarded the tenant improvement contract from MD Realty, which includes a surgery center and medical office space. In other company news, BMC will soon complete shell construction and TIs on the Reno Decatur retail center, as well as begin construction on the Phase IV Middle School addition to the Las Vegas Day School. Burke & Associates recently was honored with a 2008 ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) Seven Seals Award at their annual awards ceremony at Nellis Air Force Base. In other company news, Burke & Associates has completed the first phase of the Marnell Airport Center near McCarran International Airport. The College of Southern Nevada and CSN Foundation are pleased to announce an $8.2 million gift from the Engelstad Family Foundation to the College’s School of Health Sciences. This is the largest gift in CSN’s 37- year history. CORE Construction has moved its office to 7150 Cascade Valley Court. In conjunction with this move, CORE was named Best Small Green Private Project at the recent “Green Awards” hosted by the Las Vegas Business Press. Cox Business recently announced plans to roll out a new high-speed signaling protocol in its markets across the country. In other company news, Cox Communications was one of the highest ranked business telecommunications providers in the country, according to a survey by J.D. Power and Associates. Kevin Allen president of Cruise Holidays of Summerlin has completed Travel Agent Educational courses and is now recognized by the major cruise lines as a preferred agent for the area of North Las Vegas and Summerlin. EJM Development Co. has $50 million in construction work at the Arroyo development in the southwest Las Vegas Valley. Kimenker Insurance Agency has been recognized by Farmers Insurance for outstanding sales achievements in 2007. Jeneen & Nathan Kimenker, Farmers Insurance agents of Las Vegas, have been inducted into the Farmers’ “Topper Club” of Farmers' top sales producers. LM Construction Company recently broke ground on Wagon Trail Village, located at the northwest corner of Decatur Boulevard and Interstate 215. In other company news the firm is completing tenant improvement work on 5295 Procyon Street, a 24,000 square foot office/warehouse project. Lucchesi, Galati Architects, Inc. was named Green Corporation of the Year at the recent “Green Awards” hosted by the Las Vegas Business Press. Martin-Harris Construction has completed Phase I of The Arroyo Corporate Center in southwest Las Vegas. The Solar Electric Power Association has named Nevada Power Company and its sister company Sierra Pacific Power among its top 10 solar integrated utilities for 2007. Nevada State Bank opened its 72nd branch location at 9305 S. Cimarron Road. Restrepo Consulting Group and Global Resorts Inc. have formed a strategic alliance to assist mixed-use and leisure developers and operators with real estate projects. ROEL Construction has completed tenant improvement construction of the Arroweed Lounge at the Avi Resort in Laughlin. Southwest Gas Corporation has been honored with the Industry Leader Accident Prevention Certificate award from the American Gas Association in recognition of its safety contributions to the natural gas industry for the eighth consecutive year. True Marketing has been named agency of record by Safe Nest, one of Nevada’s oldest and most well regarded non-profit organizations. The agency has partnered with Safe Nest in the charity’s first capital campaign. U.S. Small Business Administration broadens Office of Business and Community Initiatives to focus on financial literacy and entrepreneurial education. The newly renamed Office of Entrepreneurship Education (OEE) will be a division of the Office of Entrepreneurial Development. Wells Fargo recently announced that it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Leaders program, pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its operations. In other company news Wells Fargo is the first major financial institution to offer online storage solution to retail banking customers with its vSafe service. SPECIAL THANKS City of North Las Vegas Police Department and Legacy Vineyard Church held its third annual Back to School event to distribute school supplies for underprivileged elementary school students in North Las Vegas. The event which was held at Hartke Park was an evening of food, fun, and giveaways. U.S. Small Business Administration urges veterans to take full advantage of SBA’s Patriot Express loans and other federal programs and services if they are planning to start or grow a small business. The program is designed to encourage members of the military who want to start or grow small businesses.
